Las autoridades, las borbónicas y las unitarias confundieron y ocultaron su suerte, y ningún historiador se ocupó jamás de ellas. Los asesinos y cómplices silenciosos hicieron sus carreras, primero bajo los Borbones y luego en la Italia unificada.
